Concerts, concerts, and more concerts!

7 to be exact.  All in a 2.5 week period.  I'm not complaining though because it means that my kids are very musical.  And I'm happy about that.  I just wonder why they all have to happen at once.  And at the end of the year.  (And the other worst time - December/Christmas.)

Lydia's band concert.  She plays the flute.

Nathan's and Anna's piano recital:

Lydia's strings concert.  She plays the cello.  (She's the tiny head at the very back in the middle.  You can't really see her.  But this picture shows I was there.)

Anna's orchestra concert.  She plays the violin and is often first chair.  Blake went to this one.

Nathan had his last orchestra concert for high school.  (Snif, snif).  They played another piece that he composed!!   You can see it here. (Skip to about 1:02.  That's where the good part starts.)  And this time they let him conduct!! It was awesome!  After the concert he got the National Orchestra Student award and a standing ovation from his fellow orchestra students and the audience.  Sadly I wasn't there for any of it.  I was home with Caleb who was having asthma issues.  Luckily Blake was in town and could be there.  He said it was awesome and he was a very proud dad.  I was so sad to miss it.  That's why I said at the first of this post that I won't complain about concerts.  Because as much as I complain, I'm really sad when I have to miss.

He played in a small ensemble too.

It was an awesome month of concerts!  And we're glad they're done!

Nathan's Graduation

Nathan is now a high school graduate as of May 17th.  Crazy and awesome!

Seminary graduation... 4 years of waking up at 5 am.  THAT is an accomplishment if you ask me.  And you can ask me because I woke up with him for 3.5 of those years.

Graduation:

 The GRADUATE!
His graduation party turned out great.  We had  a lot of people and a lot of fun!

Award and photo table.  I tried not to use embarrassing pictures, but evidently I did. I used a picture of 4 year old Nathan dressed as "King Candy".  He was very embarrassed by this

King Candy.  Isn't he CUTE?!  How is this embarrassing??
The decorations.  He didn't want balloons and streamers, so I compromised with these awesome hanging graduation hats and swirls.  He wasn't impressed - he didn't want a big-to-do.  He should know by now that I only know how to to do big-to-dos.
 All the yummy food.
