Meet the newest member of our family

This is what happens when you have four older sisters! I made them stop after I took pictures, but it sure was funny while it lasted. He's going to be so mad at me when he's older. So he really needs a haircut. I've been putting it off because I like the "shaggy beach look" with his super light blond hair. But now it's just getting ridiculous. I guess I'll break down and get it cut.

First Anna tried a pony tail on top of his head. She loves to do hair.
 Then she tried piggies:
Then added lip gloss (of course! Anna's the Lip Gloss Queen):

Then the girls had to add stickers for ear rings:
And finally a floor-length dress (since it's Elizabeth's, it reaches to the floor) and this is what you get:

My Craigslist obsession paid off

After 17 years of living with an old, REALLY ugly, broken  table ... we finally have a new table!!  (Well, it's almost new... new to us and very much newer than the previous one).  I've been dreaming of getting a nice kitchen table for at least 10 years, and even more so for the last 5 years - ever since moving here.  I always said, "I'll be happy when... I get a kitchen table."  While I don't really believe that "things" can cause happiness, I have to say this week I'm REALLY HAPPY!  I'm finally "happy when".  I found the deal of deals on Craigslist.  Someone had a table listed that was bought at a nice furniture store around here.  It's in excellent, almost new condition.  They were selling it for less than half the price of the furniture store AND it came with 6 chairs.  Now I realize that we need 9 chairs, so we're planning on getting a bench for one side and we'll be all set.  It's perfect and I absolutely love it!  It makes me happy to sit in the living room or kitchen and just look at our new table.  lol  And the best news is it fits our family - no more pushing and elbowing and complaining that "he's taking up my space!"  "she's touching me" "her plate is touching my plate." Hooray for a new table!! And now I can post pictures of my red kitchen and not be embarrassed about the table.  We painted the kitchen about 6 months ago.  It was a bit scary to be so bold and go red, but I LOVE my red kitchen!

Here's the new table.  Isn't it pretty?!

No more broken leg

No more broken leg for Michael!  He had surgery on Thursday.  All went well, but it was sure a long surgery and he took forever recovering before they finally sent him home.  The surgery was 90 minutes long... way longer than we're used to with our typical surgery for tubes.  They took out the broken bone.  It had a growth plate on it which meant it had a blood supply to it.  So they had to put a plastic cap over it that will evidently stay there forever.  He had to have 3 breathing treatments while he was there and had a hard time waking up.  He's now home and resting and holding still (yes, amazingly Michael is holding still!)  He can't bump it or move it around or he could loosen the cap and that could cause all sorts of problems like internal bleeding and infection.  But the good news is he should be back to normal in a short 2 weeks.  Yay!!!  He's so excited to run and swim again.  I'm just glad the whole thing is over... and a little annoyed that they didn't just do surgery back in April.  Oh well.  It's done and we're moving on.  While his leg hurts, he really seems to be enjoying laying on the couch all day watching shows.
