No more broken leg

No more broken leg for Michael!  He had surgery on Thursday.  All went well, but it was sure a long surgery and he took forever recovering before they finally sent him home.  The surgery was 90 minutes long... way longer than we're used to with our typical surgery for tubes.  They took out the broken bone.  It had a growth plate on it which meant it had a blood supply to it.  So they had to put a plastic cap over it that will evidently stay there forever.  He had to have 3 breathing treatments while he was there and had a hard time waking up.  He's now home and resting and holding still (yes, amazingly Michael is holding still!)  He can't bump it or move it around or he could loosen the cap and that could cause all sorts of problems like internal bleeding and infection.  But the good news is he should be back to normal in a short 2 weeks.  Yay!!!  He's so excited to run and swim again.  I'm just glad the whole thing is over... and a little annoyed that they didn't just do surgery back in April.  Oh well.  It's done and we're moving on.  While his leg hurts, he really seems to be enjoying laying on the couch all day watching shows.
