First Day of School

The kids started school (August 17 - a whole long time ago) so you'd think I would have time to update my blog.  But I've been too busy running them around.  I find it weird that I have more time in the summer when they are all home.  I was sad for them to go back and really sad that I have to start waking up for early morning seminary again.  I try to be a morning person, but I'm just not.  5am is too early to wake up!

Nathan and Michael are both in high school now (crazy!).  Michael is a Freshman and Nathan is a Sophomore.

Michael refused to smile to show how much he is against going to school.  I eventually sang him a silly song that I sing to get Katie to smile and he laughed.  But that picture didn't turn out, darn it!

Slight smile:

Katie in 7th grade and going to the new middle school.  I love the new school - it's right next to the high school so a lot of my kids will be in one location.  Anna will go there next year too and they're both excited to be in the same school again.  (Last year Katie went to a completely different middle school than our "home school" because that's where the special ed program was.  They moved it to our home school so we're very happy!)

Anna in 5th grade - her last year of elementary.  This year she got a male teacher and she wasn't so sure about that.  She's since decided he's ok.

Lydia in 3rd grade:

And Elizabeth going off to Kindergarten.  We don't send them to preschool so this was her first day of school ever.  She was so excited and more than ready socially, academically and emotionally.  She's been asking to go to school since she was 2.  She missed the deadline so she has waited a long time to go.  Watching 5 older siblings go to school makes you really want to go.  So she ran in and didn't look back.  I was a little sad, but mostly happy to see her so happy.

Walking in.  OK, so this kinda made me teary-eyed because she looks so little!

Going in the front door.  While she was excited, I think she looks a little nervous here.
