Blake and I have started having date night for the first time in about 15 years. Our lives are changing... we have older kids old enough to babysit and younger kids old enough to be left home (no babies). We started having date night last April or May. We don't have it every week, just weeks when Blake is home and we have time or we feel we really need it.
Normally, Caleb is very attached to his mommy and doesn't want me to go anywhere without him. Whenever I even go near the door, he says, "I wanna come with you!" and cries if I say no. But amazingly on date night, he's perfectly ok with me leaving. He seems to know it's a good thing for mom and dad to have date night. (A little side note here. Caleb asked if he could have a date night with me so one day I took him to the toy store and we looked at toys and then got an ice cream. He asked me if this is what mom and dad do on date night. I told him we usually go out to eat, oh and that daddy holds my hand. So Caleb wanted to hold my hand too. How cute is that!) So anyway, all the kids look forward to date night because they get to watch a movie in the dark (I can't watch TV in the dark - it gives me a head ache) and get extra treats. They've started asking, "So when are you and dad going on a date?" It's a good thing for everyone.
This is what we came home to one night.
