Halloween

Picking out pumpkins.

This picture cracks me up!  Lydia is one of the most photogenic people I know.  There's never a bad picture of Lydia.  I was going through these pictures on my phone and saw this one and just laughed.  I showed it to Lydia, thinking she wouldn't like it and would tell me to delete it.  Instead, she laughed and said she loves it!  She's so unpredictable (and funny).

Lydia is always super creative when it comes to Halloween costumes.  (Well actually she's super creative when it comes to most things.)  She always tries to find the most unique, off-the-wall costume she can come up with.  This year she wanted to be a French Artist.  Grandma Kathi made her an artist smock and Lydia made her own artist palette.  I was going to buy her one, but she had big ideas of how to make one.  And honestly hers turned out cuter.

Elizabeth wanted to be a baby - probably because she wanted new sleepers for pajamas.  And she wanted to bring a baby bottle to school.  She filled it up with cream soda.  She also picked out a new stuffed monkey to go with her costume.  (Her sleepers have a monkey on them too.)
Hmm, these pictures are so out of order.  Oh well, I'm continuing out of order.  :)

Blake was out of town a lot right before Halloween.  He's always in charge of carving pumpkins.  I HATE carving pumpkins!!  So this year with Dad not home, the kids had to paint them.  They were disappointed at first, but they got the creative juices flowing and had fun.

Katie made hers into Tyrone from the Backyardigans.  She LOVES Backyardigans!  Next to Celine Dion, they're the best things in the world to her.

Caleb made a black spider - his own idea.
Lydia made Kirby.  Is Kirby a Pokemon guy or from Nintendo?  I don't know, I can't keep up!  But he's cute and pink.  That's all I know.  (Lydia still had face makeup from school in this pic, just for the record.)
Elizabeth made an elephant.  I helped her glue on the ears because we used a glue gun.  And I glued them on the wrong sides/upside down.  Oops.  I couldn't take them off or they would have pulled off the paint.  We didn't have time to repaint, so we left them.  Still cute though.
Anna made a baby.  I love how she painted the stem to look like baby hair and then added a bow!
OK, back to costumes.  Ha!  This post is about as crazy as the week of Halloween was for us with the pumpkin picking and painting an parties!!
Katie didn't want a costume.  Then decided she needed one at the last minute.  So she's a "Celine Dion Fan/witch with a purple cape."  Hey don't laugh, it worked, she was happy and we moved on to Trick-Or-Treating.
 French Artist Lydia
 Baby
Anna was a Jedi and so was Caleb.
And all the pumpkins.  The last one in there is mine... he's Jack the Pumpkin King.  Get it?  Cuz he has a crown?  Hahaha.  K, not very funny or creative.  I drew eyes and a mouth with a permanent marker, added a paper crown and... Phew, DONE!  We were finishing up painting our pumpkins right before we got ready to Trick-or-Treat.  Next year maybe we shouldn't procrastinate painting/carving the pumpkins.  It was a crazy day.

Then we went Trick-or-Treating.  It was a fun night, but a crazy week!  No pics of Trick-or-Treating.  They all took off in different directions and they're fast.

Happy Halloween!
