All is well and I'm not going to die. I don't know why they were so concerned that I had to get in there RIGHT NOW. I think I could have waited and been just fine.
I still don't completely understand what's going on. I'll try to explain it as I understand it. The cardiologist said there's basically a "hot spot" in my heart causing me to have a lot of PVCs. (That's the term he used, "hot spot". I don't know what the technical term is since he never really said.) The PVCs themselves are not dangerous, but can signal other heart conditions. Since I don't have any other symptoms, that means there's little to worry about. The PVCs are mostly just annoying and uncomfortable. He still wants to run more tests because he doesn't know what's causing all the trouble. So I have to have an echocardiogram and a stress test. He also wants me to wear a Holter monitor again for 24 hours. The Holter is different than the event monitor I was wearing in that it has 12 leads (rather than 2) so he can pinpoint exactly where the problem is coming from. The only way they can figure out what's truly going on is if they catch an episode on the Holter or during the echo. That might be hard considering they happen randomly. So I hope it acts up at the right time.
He discussed treatment. There are some medicines that can stop the PVCs but they have a lot of side effects (which I've read about and am not interested in ). Or I can just live with them. Since I know that I'm not going to keel over dead any second, I think I'll go the route of just living with them. Really the worst part is wondering if I'm dying. Another option, and one we'll explore after he has more info, is a procedure where they go in and burn out the "hot spot". Eek. I hope it doesn't get to that point!
So that's the update. Now we just have Nathan's braces today, tomorrow Katie's PT appointment and figuring out what kind of braces she needs, and Caleb's GI scope. Ugh!
